Dencity — Weekly Game Competition Rules

⏳ Coming soon. The weekly competition and prizes are not running yet — the game is free to play now for fun and the leaderboard, and prizes will be introduced soon. These are the rules that will apply once it launches.
These are the official rules for Dencity's "Higher or Lower" weekly competition. It is free to enter — no purchase necessary, and it is a game of skill (knowing how busy local venues are). The promoter may run, pause, change or end the competition at any time, including running it without a cash prize in any given week.
1. Eligibility
- Open to registered Dencity users aged 18 or older who are resident in South Africa, except the promoter and anyone connected to running the competition.
- Void where prohibited. The promoter may limit the regions in which a prize is offered.
2. How to enter
- Open the 🎮 game in Dencity and play "Higher or Lower" — guess whether each venue is busier or quieter than the last.
- Your best score in a competition week (Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59, SAST) is your entry for that week. You may play as often as you like at no cost.
- No payment is required to enter or to win.
3. Winner selection
- Unless stated otherwise for a given week, the winner is the eligible player with the highest best score on that week's leaderboard. Ties are broken in favour of the player who reached the score first.
- The promoter verifies entries before awarding any prize and may disregard scores that appear automated, manipulated, or otherwise not genuine.
- The promoter's decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into beyond confirming a result.
4. Prize
- Where a cash prize is offered for a week, its value will be stated in the app for that week. There is no alternative prize and prizes are not transferable.
- If no prize is stated for a week, no prize is payable for that week (the game may still be played for points and bragging rights).
5. Claiming & payment
- We'll contact the winner using their account details within a reasonable time. The winner must respond and provide the details needed to pay them (and to confirm eligibility/identity) within 14 days, or the prize may be forfeited and offered to the next eligible player.
- Any taxes on a prize are the winner's responsibility.
6. Fair play
Cheating, using bots/scripts, multiple or fake accounts, or tampering with scores leads to disqualification and may result in account suspension. Scores are reviewed before any payout.
7. Data & publicity
We process entrants' data per our Privacy Policy. We may announce a winner's username (not full personal details) unless they object.
8. General
- This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Apple, Google, or any app store.
- The promoter is not liable for technical failures, lost entries, or anything outside its reasonable control, except where the law says otherwise.
- The competition and these rules are governed by South African law (including the Consumer Protection Act).
